The Berlin Journalism School (BJS), with the support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, has successfully completed a multi-stage educational program designed to strengthen media literacy and counter-disinformation capacities in Armenia, Georgia, and the Republic of Moldova.
The initiative was implemented in close cooperation with regional partners:
• Journalists for the Future (JFF) – Armenia
• Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) – Georgia
• Progressive Forum – Georgia
• Association of Independent Press – Republic of Moldova
Berlin Training: Knowledge Exchange and International Cooperation
In the summer of 2025, journalists and NGO representatives from all three countries participated in an intensive training in Berlin. The program included meetings with leading German and European experts, visits to media institutions and civil society organizations, and workshops on identifying disinformation, digital verification, and effective public communication strategies.
Following the Berlin workshop, participating journalists produced and published articles, investigations, podcasts, and other media content reflecting insights gained during the program.

Local Workshops Across Three Countries
The second phase of the initiative was implemented across all participating countries. Trainers and media professionals who took part in the Berlin workshop conducted follow-up sessions in their home regions.
In total, around 200 participants — including young people, journalism students, civil society representatives, and local activists — took part in the regional workshops. Sessions focused on critical thinking, fact-checking methods, online verification tools, media bias recognition, and emotional manipulation techniques. Participants also engaged in practical exercises and group work to apply newly gained skills.
Strengthening Regional Resilience
The collaborative program fostered stronger cross-border cooperation between the three countries and built a new network of young professionals committed to promoting media literacy and resisting manipulation in the digital information environment.
BJS and its partners remain committed to supporting independent journalism, enhancing public awareness, and strengthening democratic resilience across the region.
